Internship Program
Simplot designs its internships in North America to provide meaningful work experiences for students pursuing bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. All of our North America-based internships are paid positions that are offered for a designated period of time. Each posting is unique with the duration and time commitment varied. Interns are assigned specific tasks to accomplish and are expected to participate in a variety of projects based on the business group. With these projects, interns have the opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge they are acquiring in school.
From time to time, we offer internships and graduate programs in other global locations.
RISE Program
Each year, Valley companies come together to offer future leaders experience in a variety of industries. Throughout June, Idaho high school students gained valuable insights and work exposure during a month-long externship program offered by local companies.
The Reaching Idaho Students Through Sponsorship and Entrepreneurship (RISE) Program, organized by the J.R. Simplot Company and five other Treasure Valley Companies, allowed students to learn about real-world opportunities as they contemplate the next steps in their education and their career options.
Throughout June, students spent several days touring different companies, developing new skills, discovering career opportunities, and networking with business leaders in the Treasure Valley and fellow Idaho students.
“We are thrilled to open our doors to this year’s RISE students and hope this gives them a chance to build meaningful relationships, discover emerging fields in global food and agriculture, and refine their communication and presentation skills,” said Simplot’s Global Talent Programs Lead Emily Fulmer. “Feeding the world is a big job and we are eager for Idaho students to step up to the challenge.”
Several Treasure Valley organizations sponsored the 2024 RISE program. Participating students are provided the opportunity to work with Simplot, Idaho Power, Clearwater, Tracer, Micron and WinCo. The program officially launched at Clearwater May 31 and culminated with student presentations at Simplot’s HQ on Friday, June 28. With employers in attendance, students presented elevator pitches to all six participating companies.
“Idaho Power is deeply invested in the training and education of Idaho’s future workforce,” said Idaho Power Vice President of Human Resources Sarah Griffin. “RISE students have so much to offer our communities, and we were delighted to spend a few days showing them the variety of opportunities available in the energy industry and here at Idaho Power."

2024 RISE Program Students Trainee Programs
Simplot Trainee Programs provide you with the tools and resources you need to succeed. Through hands-on experience, trainees experience all areas of our business including sales and marketing, engineering, manufacturing, production, and supply chain.
Simplot is proud to offer both Internships (for our North American candidates) and Trainee Programs for currently enrolled or recent university graduates that ensure students are set to succeed in leadership positions. Our North America Campus recruiting program reflects our belief in developing our talent and promoting from within whenever possible. This allows Simplot to cultivate a pipeline of aspiring leaders for our company. In fact, many of our current leaders were groomed through this well-organized program.
